Upware to Braunston, August 2011

The main summer trip. Back down the Ely Ouse to Denver. Explored the relief channel, mooring at Downham Market and then taking a train into Kings Lynn. A brief exploration of the Wissey (going up as far as Wissington lake), before braving the tidal Ouse again (high marks from the lockkeeper) to get back into the Middle Level.

Explored Ramsay and Holme (lowest place in England – see here) before heading back to Stanground, the windy Nene, and then more familiar waters. 176 miles, 76 locks.
